Help provide a young person like Brent with a safe place to live.

Family breakdown, violence, lack of space and many other reasons can drive young people into leaving home before they’re ready. Increased living costs, lower paid jobs and unaffordable housing add to the pressure for young people, who are already struggling. When young people leave home without the life skills they need, there’s a high chance they could be on the path towards homelessness.

Brent struggled to cope with the grief of losing his sister, when he was only 8.

His mum, Ange, says:

“No child should have to see their sibling die like that. Brent was a very angry boy and he became a very angry teenager.”

His anger and outbursts of violence meant he wanted to leave home at 16.

When his outbursts became too much, Brent left home.

But there was no money for food. Or laundry. Or other basic needs…

“After a week he was coming through the gate nearly collapsing because he hadn't eaten.”

Thanks to your generosity, Kids Under Cover was able to provide Brent with a studio and it was life changing.

Ange says:

“Two years ago, he was struggling… Now, 18 months after receiving the studio, he's doing an apprenticeship, he's looking forward to the future, starting his own business.”
